Welcome to another blog from Conejos River Anglers. We will have a fishing report, water conditions report, updates about guide service, new sales and cabin rentals. We will also try to clarify what is going on with the Covid-19 situation and how it affects the National forest, campground etc. Hold On.
Fishing Report
Lower RIver: Flow at Mogote is 940cfs. The water is stained but clearing a little each day. Visibility about 2 ft.. We are still catching fish on black, coffee black, and brown pat's rubber legs and trailing worm patterns, size 14-16 prince nymphs, purple pheasant tails, frenchies, blowtorchs, red darts, allens' thunder bugs, copper johns, double downs and the likes. Fish are still on the edges and in the soft water behind structure. I think the flows will slowly drop a little over the next couple weeks leading up to Memorial day weekend. The flows from the dam are at 300cfs with clear water through the upper meadows below Platoro. Fishing flossy worms, rainbow warriors, and mostly baetis nymphs in size 16.
Water Conditions
Water levels are near normal for this time of year with some early runoff. Fishing the soft water and edges. This is a great time to fish with Stone Fly patterns and trail a worm, midge etc.
Covid -19 Update
The Conejos river is open and fishable! The link below gives details from the forest service for guideance in effect till May 31st 2020. The campgrounds are closed but that is NORMAL. Aspen Glade campground doesn't open till Memorial weekend. Because of the virus the forest service has also place restrictions on fires with their limited manpower till May 31st.
Our cabins are open and we are deep cleaning between guests.
Our guides are available and will practice social distancing and use of masks.
